The HESA Rebound Initiative Yields Exceptional Pass Rate
This was a program
meticulously designed to provide academic support for students with trailing
courses from the 2023/2024 academic year, helping them prepare for supplementary
examinations. The initiative employed a hybrid model, combining online and
in-person tutoring sessions held at laboratory spaces at the Faculty of
Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The program spanned 40
days and was executed in two phases, each preceded by a publicity period. The
tutorials for the first phase ran from September 30th to October 22nd, 2024,
and the second phase took place from November 13th to 30th, 2024.
Notably, the initiative
reached all HESA academic platforms and class pages, engaging 62 online and 85
in-person participants. Although there
were initial challenges with online delivery–which were addressed through voice
notes and video lessons–the in-person sessions were highly successful and well-received.
The initiative was
strengthened by a vital partnership with the HESA Welfare Committee. The
evaluation of the program yielded a rating of 7/10, indicating room for
improvement in online delivery and coordination. This, however, does not
diminish the significant outcome: a 100% pass rate among participants, with
many scoring exceptionally high marks.
Samuel Owusu, the
Academic Board head, described this result as "a truly historic
outcome." Participants demonstrated their sincere appreciation to the
facilitators: the HESA President (Samuel Tampanga Wepeah), the HESA Welfare
Committee Head (Kwame Antwi), Departmental Academic Heads, and all members of
the HESA Academic Board for their immeasurable contributions.
This was undeniably a
remarkable initiative.
