HESA Week Consolidates the Unity and Culture of the Association
The vibrant atmosphere at the Medical Village and Faculty of
Pharmacy buzzed with energy from February 3rd to 8th, 2025, as the Health Students' Association (HESA)
successfully hosted its highly anticipated "HESA Week Celebration." It was spearheaded by
dedicated Activity Coordinators Edwin Scott Nkrumah, Ilham Dimmie, Rebecca
Awinbila, and Doreen Opoku Anto; the week-long celebration achieved its core
aim of bringing students together, promoting unity, and offering a welcome
respite from academic pressures.
The week commenced with a touch of professionalism on Monday, featuring an official wear dress code, the distribution of HESA lapel pins, and crucial first aid training held at the Pharmacy Lecture Hall 1. The momentum continued throughout the week with a variety of engaging events: Tuesday brimmed with students in their HESA Lacoste attire for an interdepartmental debate, while Wednesday showcased intellectual prowess with the interdepartmental “Ultimate Health Science Quiz" alongside a spirited "Rep your school" event. Thursday brought a fun twist with "Twin Day" and the grand finale of the interdepartmental quiz. Friday celebrated the rich cultural tapestry of the student body with a vibrant "Cultural Day" that saw attendees adorned in traditional wear. The festivities culminated on Saturday with a relaxed HESA-themed picnic followed by an entertaining movie night and karaoke session.
The success of HESA Week was underpinned by meticulous logistical arrangements, including the provision of food and drinks, expertly managed by the organizing team in collaboration with various vendors. The team also played a crucial role in supporting other committee members, ensuring effective publicity through both online and in-person channels, and managing event setup and refreshments. The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to the vendors who provided delicious treats like popcorn, spicy eggs, kebab, and refreshing sorrel drinks, which undoubtedly enhanced the festive spirit of the week.
Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their enjoyment and appreciation for the diverse range of activities. The organizing team's tireless efforts to ensure the comfort and engagement of attendees, including providing refreshments and keeping them informed through social media, were clearly well-received. The week-long celebration was a "resounding success," and it achieved its objectives of fostering unity, teamwork, and cultural exchange. The events provided a much-needed break from the rigors of academic life, allowing students to connect, celebrate their talents and knowledge, and embrace their diverse backgrounds.
