Welfare Committee Boosts Student Support with SOMESO Fund Prep and Major Fund Donation
The Someso Fund, established by the College of Health Sciences as a
financial aid initiative, has operated for several years, easing the financial
strain for thousands of underprivileged students of the college. Supported
annually by various sponsors—including the Health Sciences Students'
Association (HESA)—the program reflects a strong commitment to student welfare.
Demonstrating their active involvement, the Association’s leadership not only
contributed financially but also took proactive steps to guide members through
the fund application process.
In a show of
commitment to student success and financial accessibility, the Welfare
Committee organized targeted preparatory sessions for students applying to the Someso Fund. These sessions offered
guidance on documentation, interview techniques, and one-on-one mentorship
which equipped applicants with the requisite tools they needed to succeed. The
feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, affirming the value of
our support.
The Committee, led
by Vice President Kwame Ahenkorah Antwi, didn’t end their effort there. They
played a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of the Someso Fund interviews, helping with logistics and
coordinating interview schedules.
In line with their
enduring mission to promote student welfare, the committee has announced a substantial
donation to the Someso Fund next semester. This contribution aims to
strengthen the fund’s capacity to support students who are most in need—because
at the heart of this association is a community that lifts each other up in
times of need.
