A culmination of intense campaigns and sleepless nights.



After weeks of fervent campaigning, sleepless nights, and tireless efforts from all aspirants, the Health Science Students Association (HESA) successfully concluded its elections for the 9th administration on June 16, 2025. The air was thick with anticipation as students gathered at polling stations across the university, eager to cast their votes and determine the fate of their future leaders.

From 08:00 AM until the polls closed at 04:30 PM, the polling stations at Boadi, SMS, Pharmacy, Vet Complex, and Casley Hayford buzzed with activity. Each candidate, having poured their heart and soul into connecting with the student body, awaited the verdict of their hard work. The hopes and anxieties of the aspirants were palpable, a testament to the dedication invested in their campaigns. Out of 4,697 verified and eligible voters, an impressive 4,666 students participated in the electoral process, demonstrating the student body’s engagement and belief in the democratic process. Only 31 students did not cast their votes. The total number of women participating in the exercise stood at 2,623, highlighting their significant presence in the student populace. The final coalition of votes, the moment of truth for all involved, was meticulously carried out at the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL).

As the results were meticulously tallied and announced, a mix of jubilation, relief, and commiseration filled the atmosphere, bringing to an end a period of intense student politicking. Official Election Results for HESA 9th Administration: President: The presidential race was a keenly contested battle between Clifford Amoah Takyi and Prince Amoako.

After day and night campaigns, it was: • Prince Amoako: 2,652 votes (56.84%) – Winner
• Clifford Amoah Takyi: 1,973 votes (42.28%)

General Secretary: Elizabeth Osei and Stephanie Boampong Yaa vied for the crucial role of General Secretary. • Elizabeth Osei: 2,534 votes (54.31%) – Winner
• Stephanie Boampong Yaa: 2,000 votes (42.86%)

Financial Secretary: Emmanuel Effah Asiamah, who ran unopposed, still garnered overwhelming support, reflecting the student body’s confidence in his abilities.
• Emmanuel Effah Asiamah: Yes – 4,418 votes (94.88%) – Winner • No: 173 votes (3.71%)

Organizing Secretary: The position of Organizing Secretary saw Emmanuel Amponsah Ata and Emmanuel Gawu go head-to-head. • Emmanuel Amponsah Ata: 2,398 votes (51.29%) – Winner
• Emmanuel Gawu: 2,120 votes (45.44%)

Women’s Commissioner (WOCOM): Dimmie Ilham Wachonmanaquewey and Ellen Yamah contested for the Women’s Commissioner role, a position vital for representing the female student body. • Ellen Yamah: 1,538 votes (60.35%) – Winner
• Dimmie Ilham Wachonmanaquewey: 989 votes (37.70%)

Health Officer: Perpetual Selasi Accorlor, running unopposed, received a strong mandate from the students. • Perpetual Selasi Accorlor: Yes – 4,276 votes (91.64%) – Winner • No: 277 votes (5.72%)

The successful conclusion of these elections marks the beginning of a new chapter for HESA. The newly elected executives, having navigated the demanding journey of campaigning, now face the task of fulfilling their promises and serving the Health Science student community. The entire student body looks forward to the leadership and initiatives that the 9th administration will bring.
